Artificial intelligence, also called AI (Artificial intelligence). Artificial intelligence is programmed by people with the goal of letting computers carry out intelligent behavior on their own, like humans.
AI technology differs from the logic programming used in programming languages. This is because AI is built together with machine learning to simulate human intelligence in tasks that humans do better than computers. Specifically, AI gives computers human-like abilities: thinking and reasoning logically to solve problems, communicating by understanding language and speech, learning on their own and adapting, and so on.
By artificial intelligence applications, devices and machines learn how to process tasks, adapt and learn well, which brings better work results and lets everything run more smoothly than ordinary machines.

Pros and cons of AI (Artificial Intelligence)
With the ability to learn from and process huge amounts of data, AI has opened new opportunities for the world, but AI technology also brings challenges that need to be solved. So after learning what AI is, to better understand the potential and limits of this technology, let's explore the pros and cons of AI right now.
Advantages
Artificial intelligence is becoming an indispensable companion, helping people get work done more efficiently every day. Here are the main benefits that artificial intelligence (AI) brings:
- Detecting and preventing risks: AI processes large amounts of data to spot potential risks early and then suggests ways to avoid them. This is especially useful in healthcare, finance and cybersecurity, where every accurate decision can be critical.
- Removing language barriers: AI technology goes well beyond traditional translation tools, supporting real-time communication with high accuracy. It opens up international work opportunities and promotes cultural, scientific and economic cooperation worldwide.
- Automation that reduces workload: With AI built in, automated processes take over repetitive and heavy tasks, helping businesses save labor while improving operational performance.
- Personalizing the user experience: Because it analyzes data quickly, AI technology understands the needs of each customer group. This improves services such as e-commerce, healthcare and education, and gives each person the best possible experience.
- Supporting creativity and specialization: When AI takes over complex tasks such as data analysis and information processing, people can focus on building expertise and creativity in areas that call for subtlety and emotion, which machines cannot replace.
Disadvantages
Despite its great potential, AI still comes with controversies and challenges that need to be addressed. Once you know what the downsides of AI are, you will see that these limitations are not only technical. They also reach deep into society, ethics and people's lives:
- People may be replaced: With its ability to automate many complex tasks accurately and without tiring, artificial intelligence (AI) raises a big question about the role of people in society. Many occupations may be "AI-ified", leaving many workers at risk of losing their jobs.
- Misuse for harmful purposes: The development of artificial intelligence carries many dangers if it falls into the wrong hands. For example, using AI to build and operate autonomous weapons has caused major ethical controversy and threatens global safety and peace.
- Bias and discrimination: AI systems can carry biases from the data used to train them or from the people who develop them. For example, an AI tool used in hiring may unintentionally exclude candidates from disadvantaged groups such as women or minority communities, which increases social injustice.
The 4 most common types of artificial intelligence today
Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently divided into 4 main types, similar to the way Maslow divided the hierarchy of human needs. They are: Reactive AI, Limited Memory, Theory of Mind and Self-Awareness. Each type has its own characteristics and plays an important role in the development of AI technology, as follows.
Type 1: Reactive AI (Reactive machine)
Reactive AI is the most basic form of artificial intelligence. It focuses on analyzing the current situation and responding instantly, without relying on past data or the ability to learn on its own. This type of AI works from pre-programmed rules to solve problems as efficiently as possible.
One example of reactive AI technology is Deep Blue the chess supercomputer developed by IBM. Deep Blue was programmed to evaluate the position on the board, analyze possible moves and choose the best tactic, all based on strategies defined in advance. However, Deep Blue could not learn or improve its skills over games. Even so, in 1997 it made history by defeating grandmaster Garry Kasparov, showing what reactive AI can do.
Type 2: AI with limited memory
AI with limited memory is a type of artificial intelligence that can remember and store part of the information from events or data it has gone through. This memory lets the AI analyze and apply the information it has collected, together with pre-programmed data, to make decisions.
For example, in the case of self-driving cars, sensors on the car continuously collect data on the distance between the car and surrounding objects. Based on this information, AI technology can analyze and predict the risk of a collision and adjust speed to keep travel safe.
Type 3: Theory of mind AI (Theory-of-mind)
Theory of mind AI aims to simulate human thinking and behavior, focusing on the factors that shape behavior: the ability to perceive emotions and thoughts. To get there, researchers work on algorithms that let machines interact naturally and flexibly and respond sensibly in each situation, like a person would.
For example, robot Moxie is designed to connect with children by teaching them and guiding them to listen and respond according to their feelings. Similarly, in China, Microsoft's chatbot Xiaoice stands out for remembering earlier conversations, which helps it build a close relationship by understanding and answering emotions naturally.
Type 4: Self-aware AI (Self-aware)
Self-aware AI is a technology that can recognize itself, has consciousness and behaves like a human. In particular, this type of AI technology can show emotions and understand human emotions. It is considered the peak of development in artificial intelligence. However, at present, making this technology real is still a major challenge.
A typical example of self-aware AI technology is robot Erica, developed by Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro and Osaka University. Besides communicating naturally, Erica can understand the context of a conversation and express emotion through her voice. Thanks to a combination of deep learning algorithms and advanced speech recognition, Erica can give fitting responses, which feels like talking with a real person.
Every day dozens of new AI tools appear and many people fall into the "FOMO trap" and rush into using them, which leaves them without direction. Based on his experience as Product Director at The MONA, Hùng advises against chasing trends and suggests focusing on getting the most out of 1 or 2 core tools. With so many AI tools on the market, Hùng will help you avoid the FOMO effect and find the AI tools that fits your work best.

The potential of AI in practice and in the future
To help you better understand the purpose of developing artificial intelligence and its potential in practice, MONA has put together a list of common fields where AI technology is worth building into operations:
-
AI in Marketing: From keyword research and content improvement to better user experience. With AI-optimized SEO, businesses save costs, deploy faster and get marketing results quickly and accurately.
- Computer vision: Recognizing and analyzing image information with artificial intelligence, converting it into digital signals and processing them. Installed computer vision can be programmed to see through walls, to recognize signatures and to analyze medical images.
- Control and automation: Artificial intelligence is built into industrial production technology. Machines on production lines can be fully automated, and AI helps handle large volumes of work with great accuracy.
- Transport: Artificial intelligence (AI) is used very widely in transport to meet the goal of self-driving, self-operating vehicles. This raises economic benefits, cuts costs and keeps dangerous accidents that threaten human life and health to a minimum.
- Robotics: This is a technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) for difficult tasks that need care and precision, such as manufacturing and assembling cars or moving large objects in space.
- Education: Thanks to AI in teaching, education has improved in many ways, such as automated grading, student tutoring and education management. Today there are many school management software products meant to improve teaching and learning. AI also points out gaps that the education sector needs to fix to raise teaching results.
- Communications: When artificial intelligence is applied to communications, it creates more ways to reach potential customers. Companies can find the right target group by analyzing traits such as demographics, customer behavior, shopping habits and the content customers usually watch.
- Services: Thanks to artificial intelligence, service industries can operate better and perform above their old level. AI also brings a fresh experience to customers, because it does well at analyzing and collecting customer data and so can offer the solutions that best fit their needs.
- Law: People can explore and screen information systems more efficiently with artificial intelligence. As a result, processing and combining information and deciding on penalties also become faster and noticeably more effective.
