When the previous step is done, you will get the “Apache HTTP Server Information” notice and can begin configuring this software. You need to provide the following:
Server Name: Fill in Localhost the Server Name, which is the name of your server or, more simply, the domain name pointing to your website.
Administrator’s Email address: Enter an email address you actually own.
Apache HTTP Port: Leave the default, 80. Then click “Next” to move to the next installation step.
Set the MySQL configuration
At the “MySQL Server Configuration” step, enter a password in the box. Choose a password that is easy to remember, because it is the password for the MySQL admin account. The user name defaults to root and the password is up to you. When you're done, make sure to remember the details for your next login. Click “Install” and the automatic installation runs. When it finishes, click “Finish” and tick the two boxes “Start MySQL”, “Start Apache” so the system starts up.

Once installation is complete, you can check it by opening a browser and going to localhost. Then go to localhost/phpMyAdmin; after you log in successfully, the system takes you to the admin page. At this point, set the language by entering the database name in the Collation field, choose utf8_unicode_ci then click “Create”. After that, choose Privileges and add a user to assign permissions. At this step the system needs basic details such as username, host, password… Below that are the boxes for permissions on what the user can do with the database. If you're creating an account for an administrator, tick all of them at this step.
Things to note when using and installing AppServ
After installing AppServ, users often run into the following problems, which should be fixed right away so they don't affect performance.
Port conflict
This stops the AppServ installation from finishing and leaves users unable to open Localhost. The main cause is software already using port 80. Find the application that is using it and quit the localhost that holds the port, so it doesn't clash with AppServ.
Turn off the Windows firewall
If the Windows firewall or antivirus software is on, it often blocks port 80. Other web server applications can sometimes cause similar problems. So turn off the firewall before installing to avoid being blocked.
Turn off UAC on Windows
Windows usually has User Account Control turned on by default. This can sometimes limit certain permissions, such as installing AppServ. So switch it off before installing. In general, all Windows versions do this in a similar way. Just click “Start” the Windows icon at the bottom left of the screen and type UAC. Next, choose “Change User Account Control Settings” then drag down to “Never Notify: is all it takes. You can open AppServ at any time by logging in with the username and password you set above.
